Preference is given to authors from East Texas and the broader Pineywoods region.
Pineywoods Press publishes character-driven literary, contemporary, speculative, and genre fiction with an emphasis on voice, atmosphere, and emotional precision.
We are interested in work that is controlled, voice-driven, and attentive to the quiet architecture of character and atmosphere.
Submissions are currently limited and selective.
Please include:
– A brief cover note containing a synopsis, word count, and any relevant comparative titles.
– The first 30 pages, or the complete manuscript for shorter works, as a PDF.
Manuscripts should be formatted in a readable serif font at 12pt with standard margins and spacing.

Pineywoods Press is not currently seeking high-concept commercial fiction or work driven primarily by plot over character. We are looking for work that knows what it is and does not apologize for it.
